Mike Gragg > Heading NorthWest from Tucumcari, New Mexico SH 104 begins a gradual climb. The terrain and plants begin to change with the altitude. This pullout afforded a place to look ahead toward the mountains and back toward the plains.

Mike Gragg > Looking back toward Tucumcari and the plains beyond. I think I see Lubbock.....

Mike Gragg > No doubt about it ... the mountains are getting closer.

Mike Gragg > Continuing on toward Las Vegas, SH 65 continues to become more and more scenic and rugged. Notice the increasing presence of trees - mostly conifers here.

Mike Gragg > Sipapu recreation area and the stream that runs through the middle of it. SH 518 is visible in the background. To the right is the ski run area.
This was the annual Bavarian Mountain Weekend Rally hosted by the New Mexico BMW Club, a BMWMOA club.

Mike Gragg > Sipapu Winter Sports Area of the Carson National Forest. BMWs old and new as far as the eye can see, with the occasional Ducati, Benelli, and even Gold Wing thrown in the mix.
