Mike Gragg > My "Ghost Rider" shot on New Mexico SH 104 NorthWest of Tucumcari. SH 104 and SH 65 make a scenic but deserted shortcut between Tucumcari and Las Vegas, New Mexico. I had plenty of time to take this shot.
Mike Gragg > Heading NorthWest from Tucumcari, New Mexico SH 104 begins a gradual climb. The terrain and plants begin to change with the altitude. This pullout afforded a place to look ahead toward the mountains and back toward the plains.
Mike Gragg > The beginnings of mountains...
Mike Gragg > Looking South across a canyon....
Mike Gragg > Looking back toward Tucumcari and the plains beyond. I think I see Lubbock.....
Mike Gragg > Another pullout on NM 104. The terrain continues to grow more rugged...
Mike Gragg > No doubt about it ... the mountains are getting closer.
Mike Gragg > Continuing on toward Las Vegas, SH 65 continues to become more and more scenic and rugged. Notice the increasing presence of trees - mostly conifers here.
